Pegasus Lectures Frequently Asked Questions
I need to sit for my credentialing exam in 6 months. When should I attend a seminar?
We recommend that you attend our seminar approximately 1 - 2 months prior to sitting for your exam. For physics exam candidates, 6-8 weeks generally provides enough time for thorough review and practice after the seminar. Some individuals may find they need more or less time depending on their background and study time. If you are planning on attending one of our physics seminars, we recommend that you register as soon as possible so you have plenty of time to read through the textbook that is mailed to you right after you register (and complete pre-class homework in physics for the Pegasus Pass Guarantee.) Specialty exam candidates usually schedule their credentialing exam 2 – 4 weeks following the seminar. If you are planning on staying at the seminar hotel, it is also important to book your hotel room early to ensure you receive the discounted room rate for the seminar.
Why should I choose Pegasus?
We are the only registry review seminar provider that guarantees their seminars. Pegasus Lectures undisputedly has the highest
pass rate! Prepare with Pegasus and pass the first time. This offer is unparalleled!
What is the Pegasus Pass Guarantee?
We are so certain of the quality of our seminars that we offer a FREE, UNLIMITED return to a seminar if you do not pass your
credentialing exam after attending our seminar.
How do I qualify for the Pegasus Guarantee?
It's simple. To qualify for the Pegasus Pass Guarantee, we ask our attendees to complete pre-class homework, attend the full seminar
and sit for their exam within 6 months of attending our seminar.
How can Pegasus Lectures offer a Pass Guarantee?
Since 1992, our seminar attendees have consistently passed the credentialing exams at a rate above 90%. Our 2005-2006 pass
rates exceeded 94%. Not only do we know what you need to pass the exam, but we deliver the material in a way that makes it
memorable, interesting, and related to your daily practice.
What is included in the seminar registration fee?
Detailed course workbooks come with your seminar registration. For the physics seminars you receive a two volume, hard bound
text with an Animation and Image Library CD, approved for 35 Category 1 or SDMS credits. The physics seminar includes 3½ days
of instruction, and 36 CMEs (in addition to the 35 CMEs for the course text.) The specialty seminars include 1½ - 2 days instruction
with a maximum of 16 CMEs. Access to our online education center with online quizzing and feedback is also provided to each
attendee. In addition, complimentary continental breakfast and afternoon snack breaks are also included with your registration fee.
Why are your physics seminars 3 ½ days?
It is our experience that three and a half days are required to thoroughly cover the material tested on the credentialing exams. Many
of our attendees actually state that they wish our physics seminars were longer!
How should I compare physics seminar providers?
Considerations should include:
- Is there a pass guarantee or will you have to pay again if you are not successful?
- Are textbooks with additional CME credits and an Animation and Image Library CD included in the registration fee or only lecture notes?
- Cost per numbers of hours of instruction
- Number of CMEs
- Overall pass rate
Why do you recommend that I take both the physics and specialty seminar at the same time?
Most importantly, the physics provides a great foundation for the topics and principles discussed in the specialty seminars. For those
candidates planning to earn the RDCS credential from the ARDMS, cardiovascular principles are covered in both the physics exam
and the echo specialty exam. Similarly, for those candidates planning to achieve the RVT credential from the ARDMS, vascular
principles are covered in both the physics exam and the vascular technology specialty exam. By attending both the physics and the
specialty exams at the same location, you will minimize your preparation time and effort while simultaneously maximizing your ability
to succeed. Additionally, there is a discount for attending both a physics and specialty seminar.
Why do you recommend to those sitting for one of the CCI specialty exams (Non-Invasive Echo or Vascular) that they take a physics seminar, as well?
The CCI exams are structured differently than the exams offered by the ARDMS. For the CCI CV Science Examination -- math, patient care, anatomy & physiology, and quality assurance are tested. Ultrasound physics is not tested on the CCI CV Science exam. But, ultrasound physics is tested on the CCI Non-Invasive Echo and Vascular specialty exams and constitutes around 15 to 17 percent of each exam. So, we recommend before sitting for the Non-Invasive Echo or Vascular Exams with CCI, that you complete a Vascular Physics or CV Principles seminar and either our Adult Echo or Vascular Technology seminar.
If I can't make it to a physics seminar, what products do you recommend?
Although a seminar is the best way to prepare for an exam by providing the structure and guidance most needed for your studying, if
you can't possibly attend, we recommend that you purchase our Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation, 4th Edition by Frank Miele
which provides an independent study outline. This is the physics text used in the physics seminar. Once you feel comfortable with the
material, we recommend that you purchase one of our Ultrasound Physics ExamSim Suite CD-ROMs. This CD-ROM provides practice
taking the credentialing exam in the actual ARDMS format and gives patented feedback on your content strengths and weaknesses. If you are unable to attend a seminar, our Physics eSeminar series offers a concise review of the main physics concepts followed by an optional 30 minute Q & A session with sample board review questions.
How do I qualify to get the Pegasus attendee discount?
All attendees of a Pegasus sponsored physics or specialty seminar qualify to receive the Pegasus attendee discount on Pegasus products (as advertised). eSeminar participants qualify for the Pegasus seminar attendee after purchasing and participating in a complete eSeminar series (5 modules). Pegasus seminar attendee discounts range from 15-50% on various products. Verification of attendance will be made at time of purchase.
Why use an exam simulation CD-ROM in prep for an exam?
Our ExamSim Suite CD-ROMs include a package of tools that provide a wealth of information on your test-taking skills as well as
content strengths and weaknesses. These exams are not just paper exams in electronic format like most other CDs. First, our CDs
include an interactive strategy session, teaching you how to take tests, reducing stress and improving scores. Our exam CDs mimic
the testing environment in regards to pacing, answering, navigation, and content. For those that have not taken a test in a while, it
will help you practice taking a computer-based exam so that when you do take the exam you can focus on the questions. In addition,
it includes a (patent pending) analysis package that provides you with information on types of questions that you have difficulty with,
requiring further study. Every question on the CD-ROM includes a detailed review section with information on the answer, why it is
correct, and common pitfalls. When you pass one of our exams, you can feel confident that you will do well on your credentialing
exam. Our CDs actually shorten the studying time needed to prepare for the exam; our CDs are a great last step in your preparation
prior to taking a credentialing exam.
How do you pronounce Miele?
It’s me-a-lay.
I did not pass my exam and need to return for another seminar. What do I need to do?
All we ask is that you fax to Pegasus your exam results page, the Pegasus Guarantee Letter (that you received at the seminar) and the location and date of the seminar that you would like to attend. We will register you for the seminar and send you an information letter. If you are returning to our seminar through the Pegasus Pass Guarantee Program be sure to bring your course materials with you to the seminar. Additional CMEs cannot be issued for a repeat seminar.
