Richard A. Humes, MD, FAAP, FACC, FAHA, FASE
Professor of Pediatrics, Wayne State University, Detroit Michigan
Dr. Richard Humes received his medical degree from Wayne State University, and completed his fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He became the director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit beginning in 1987, and served that position until 2004. He is currently Director of Cardiology at that institution. He is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Humes is the author of many peer review papers and chapters. He is a past president of the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography, Michigan Society of Echocardiography, and Immediate Past President of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) for which he is a founding member of the Board of Governors. He is past president of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. He has served on the Board of Governors of the American Society of Echocardiography and numerous committees of the American College of Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography, and American Heart Association. Dr. Humes is a world renowned lecturer in pediatric and fetal echocardiography. He is a gifted lecturer, whose insightful but methodical and practical approach makes learning complex material significantly easier and enjoyable.
