{"id":147,"date":"2011-11-13T15:42:35","date_gmt":"2011-11-13T20:42:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/test.pegasuslectures.com\/shop\/blog\/?p=147"},"modified":"2015-08-24T07:26:54","modified_gmt":"2015-08-24T12:26:54","slug":"itw-part-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/index.php\/2011\/11\/13\/itw-part-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Bringing Ultrasound to Uganda with ITW (Part 7)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tuesday May 31<sup>st<\/sup>:<\/strong>\u00a0 Just a few more words about the experience of driving through Queen Elizabeth Park.\u00a0 The excitement was tangible as we drove.\u00a0 We saw elephants, baboons, warthogs, antelopes, water bucks, and even a tree lion.\u00a0 I have been dreaming my whole life of going on \u201csafari\u201d in Africa.\u00a0 Today I got to experience wild animals in their natural habitat.\u00a0 At one point, we saw a massive male elephant.\u00a0 As you can see from the picture, we were very close (no camera tricks \u2013 we really were that close).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-148 size-full\" title=\"15\" src=\"http:\/\/test.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/151.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/151.jpg 432w, https:\/\/www.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/151-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-149 size-full\" title=\"16\" src=\"http:\/\/test.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/16.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/16.jpg 432w, https:\/\/www.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/16-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>About 1 mile before we arrived at our final destination of the hotel, we stopped at Bwindi Hospital to meet with an administrator and contact named Okello.\u00a0 Okello was wearing what looked to be a down jacket as it was evening and he was recovering from an illness.\u00a0 I am always amazed at how people who live in warm climates bundle up when the temperature reaches the high 70\u2019s.\u00a0 We picked up Okello, drove the final mile up the mountain, and arrived at the Silver Back Lodge at about 9:00 pm.\u00a0 Everyone was utterly exhausted and weary of bumps, of being jostled, of the dust we inhaled, and the continuous loud rumble of banging along the rutted road.\u00a0 We were greeted warmly and had a wonderful dinner sitting outside on a porch under the night sky.\u00a0 I remember now why I love nights in Africa so much \u2013 with so little light clutter and being at the equator, the sky is painted with thousands and thousands of stars.\u00a0 There is nothing like a little universal perspective to reset our human perspective.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-150 size-full\" title=\"17\" src=\"http:\/\/test.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/17.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"312\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/17.jpg 312w, https:\/\/www.pegasuslectures.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/17-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 312px) 100vw, 312px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday May 31st:\u00a0 Just a few more words about the experience of driving through Queen Elizabeth Park.\u00a0 The excitement was tangible as we drove.\u00a0 We saw elephants, baboons, warthogs, antelopes, water bucks, and even a tree lion.\u00a0 I have been &hellip;
