Echocardiographer’s Pocket Reference
Since 1993, The Echocardiographer’s Pocket Reference has been the primary reference for sonographers and all students of Echocardiography. Now in its 5th edition, this textbook has been completely redesigned to allow for integrated learning. Entirely written by sonographers, 24 chapters of Echocardiographic knowledge are available at your fingertips. This edition has added four additional chapters, including anatomy and physiology in cardiac development, cardiac medications, instrumentation, and the comprehensive echo exam. Designed as a reference text with the user in mind, educational content has been optimized with videos and color images that cover a broad spectrum of complex cardiac disease states. The author, Richard Palma (Richie), has done an excellent job providing all the basic concepts of echocardiographic evaluation of the heart in a format that is comprehensive and easy to access. Any student of Echocardiography can use this text as an educational tool and a primary reference text.
Format: Spiral bound
Adult Echo ExamSim Program:
The Adult Echocardiography ExamSim program was developed to help sonographers and/or physicians determine their level of expertise in cardiac sonography and to prepare candidates for their credentialing/board exam(s).
Adult Echocardiography ExamSim Components include:
Interactive Test-Taking Section
Timed, full-length exam
Content weighted according to content outline
Patented Intelligent Analysis Package to determine level of exam preparedness
In addition to providing simulation of the ARDMS Adult Echocardiography examination, the program uses a patented algorithm to help the user determine their level of preparedness to sit for the exam. The patented algorithm mathematically assesses not only performance based on question types, subject topics, and subject subtopics, but it also analyzes keystrokes, testing behaviors, and time parameters to identify precise areas of strengths and weaknesses. The score report can then be used to shorten study time by precisely indicating topics that require further study as well as identifying poor test-taking habits. The review section is much more than just the correct answer to the questions. In review mode, the detailed explanations are included to make certain that the concept being tested is well understood. By using this invaluable ExamSim tool to prepare for your Adult Echo exam, you will have studied the key concepts, focused on your areas of weakness, and used your valuable study time efficiently and effectively.
CME: 7 Sonography Canada CME credits (Sonography Canada credits are accepted by ARDMS and CCI)
This program is designed to operate on computer and laptop platforms (PC and MAC). This program is not compatible with an iPad.
Adult Echo Case Study Program:
This CD contains 50 case studies designed to help prepare candidates for the video portion of the Adult Echocardiography certification exam. The author, Terry Reynolds of the Arizona Heart Institute and faculty member of Pegasus Lectures, has developed multiple-choice questions to complement each case study, creating an in-depth self-assessment program. There are more than 200 questions included. This collection of case studies is ideal to expand your library of clinical pathology as well as an excellent tool for assessing the clinical knowledge of students, sonographers, or potential employees. (This CD is not compatible with MAC computers.)
CME: 8 Sonography Canada CME credits (Sonography Canada credits are accepted by ARDMS and CCI)
Cardiovascular Principles: A Registry Prep Guide:
The cardiovascular principles guidebook represents years of classroom registry examination presentations at the School of Cardiac Ultrasound. The strength of this guide is that it takes the cardiovascular principles components and breaks it down into its smallest components, thoroughly discusses each component, and then concludes each section with practice review and board review examination questions. Units of study include anatomy of the heart, basic embryology, congenital defects, cardiac physiology, cardiac evaluation methods, and principles of cardiac hemodynamics. The Cardiovascular Principles “At a Glance” section provides a condensation of the pertinent material, and the Cardiovascular Principles 500 section provides a challenging final test.
