Basic Biomechanics of Ligaments, Tendons, and Joints
[0-0AFB]

Basic biomechanics of ligaments, tendons, and joints begins with a discussion of the mechanisms of joint injury. Greg Wilde, MD discusses how the types of joint movements including angulation, translation, rotation, external and internal force, and intracapsular abnormalities can provide clues to the causes of joint injury. Animations are provided to graphically demonstrate the mechanism of common sports injuries. The second module emphasizes the importance of stress and strain forces and how it causes and impacts tear injuries. Classification of tears is reviewed with illustrations and sonographic images.
